After a disappointing defeat in the previous league game, the Reserves were back on home soil to face a young Belper United Development side.
From the off, the lads looked to dominate possession and moved the ball really well. Belper United really struggled to get into the game and it was attack after attack from the Dynamos Reserves.
On the 25th minute, the lads worked the ball well from the back, shifting the opposition out of position before isolating Moore one-on-one with the full-back. He cut inside onto his favoured right food and unleashed an absolute rocket into the top left hand corner from 20 yards out. The keeper had absolutely no chance. Nothing more than what the lads deserved.
Just 5 minutes later, after a similar pattern of play, Moore found himself just inside the opposition area with the ball dead at his feet. He opened up his body and wrapped his foot around the ball to curl one in off the far right-hand post.
It felt like the lads could really turn the screw here now, until a few moments later the Belper United winger beat his man, entered the area and was brought down by Webster after squaring the ball across the goal for the attacker to finish. However, as the attacker put the ball into the net the ref had already blown for a penalty. To Belper United’s despair, the ref stuck with the penalty decision. Up stood the attacker for the penalty, only for Clint to dive down to his right and pull off a fantastic save. The opposition left feeling hard done by.
Looking for revenge, less than two minutes later the Belper United midfielder weaved his way through our midfield, entered the penalty area and poked home a goal to make it 2-1 and game on.
The message at HT was to keep playing the way we’d played. Apart from a brief lapse in concentration, we’d completely dominated the first half and were by far the better team.
The second half was a strange one. Neither team created and clear-cut chances and it seemed to fizzle out in the end. The game finished 2-1 with Dynamos Reserves deserved winners.
2 wins from 3 and we’re back at home next week as we host Inter Belper in league action.
