After a three week break, Dynamo were back in action against Sandiacre Town. In what was a rather tepid affair, Dynamo coasted to victory 13-0, remarkably with three of their players getting hat-tricks – Danny Guild, James Jennison and Michael Tristram. The result marks Dynamo’s second biggest win of the season.
Well done to Matt Brian and Danny Guild, who shared the goalkeeping responsibilities after Mark Croake pulled out in the pre-match warm-up.
Comedy moment of the game is a toss up between:-
(1) Tristram’s fluffed one-on-one chip/dink in the first half;
(2) Brian’s all-in-one motion, involving an accidental in-step half-volley, backwards roll, and header, resulting in a goal-kick; or
(3) Ballard’s attempt to re-create his one-on-one miss against Willington away, which he replicated to perfection.
Manager Gavin Salisbury’s biggest concern will be the injury list that has started to ramp-up. James King and Mark Croake now look set to miss the remainder of the season with their respective injuries.
Dynamo are up against Chellaston in the Quarter Finals of the Challenge Cup next Saturday, where Salisbury will have a bare 14 to choose from.
Dynamo Manager, Gavin Salisbury – “I expected a much tougher task than what today’s game turned out to be. But, as I said to the lads at half-time, you can only beat what is put in front of you. It's another 3 points and more goals to our already magnificent goal difference. The way the league is going it may come down to goal difference come the end of the season.
We now turn our attention to the Challenge Cup next Saturday, with a last 16 tie away at Chellaston FC. Ironically, it will be Chellaston's first game back after their mid-season sabbatical; we were the last team to play them on 9 November 2013 when we demolished them 16-0. I'm expecting a much tougher game this time around. I'm very keen to get to the final of the Challenge Cup after our poor second half display at Heanor Town Reserves in the Derbyshire Cup Quarter Final saw us exit that competition early.”
