The lads went into the final game of a frantic August, looking for 7 wins in a row to maintain their 100% start to the season.
In to the starting XI came Bickerton and Smith for Peverley and Nkrumah. Goodband and Supple returned to the bench after missing the win at Holbrook Sports the previous week.
Inside the first minute Dynamo were ahead; Gosling did well in the middle of the park and played a great ball over the top to Withers who lobbed the ball over the oncoming keeper. Smith ran on to it, under the pressure of the home defenders, to poke it home for his first of the season. RBL’s two lively midfielders made it difficult at times for us to get a grip on the game, and again, like the previous week chances came and went, through wrong decision making and the need for more composure in the final third.
The half ended 1-0 with the away side not threatening too much.
The message at half time was clear, stay patient and the second goal will come. It soon did and Cox’s goal kick fell to Regan on the edge of the box, who’s shot deflected off the RBL defender nicely for Griffiths to loop a header over the keeper for his 6th goal of the season.
Dynamo now had firm control of the game, all 5 subs were introduced as Hughes, Brown, Smith and Griffiths were replaced by Bickerton, Trivett, Walsmley, Nkrumah and Supple. The latter made the third goal, as he dispossessed the RBL defender and played in Goodband in the inside left position. The winger finished superbly to grab his 4th goal of the season.
Cox had to be alert at the other end, making a sharp save to deny the opposition striker in what was probably their best effort in the game. Right on 90 minutes, Dynamo grabbed a fourth. A corner from the left was played short and worked its way out to Brown, his cross fell to Withers whose shot was well saved by the RBL keeper. Dawson was on hand to finish and score his first goal for the club.
On the whole, a very comfortable win to cap off a superb August. 7 wins out of 7 and the whole squad playing its part. Onto next week and another tough game against Graham Street Prims at Cockshut Lane.
