Match Report: Duffield Dynamos U18s 2 – Melbourne Dynamo Tigers U18s 3
Melbourne Dynamo Tigers signed off the 25/26 season in dramatic fashion with a thrilling 3–2 away victory over Duffield Dynamos, sealed with the final kick of the game.
Keen to continue their recent unbeaten run, Tigers started brightly, applying early pressure and looking composed in possession. The breakthrough came when Harding threaded an excellent pass through to Tovell, who showed great strength to hold off his defender before finishing with real composure to give Tigers the lead.
However, lapses in concentration towards the end of the first half allowed Duffield to turn the game around, scoring twice in quick succession to take a 2 - 1 lead into halftime.
Tigers regrouped well after the break and continued to show determination and control. Midway through the second half, Williams drove forward and earned a penalty, which Watkinson converted confidently to bring the sides level at 2–2.
With momentum building, Tigers pushed hard for a winner. In the dying moments, Williams once again made the difference, threading a perfectly weighted pass out to Wood on the left. He drove forward and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the back of the net, sparking jubilant scenes as players and substitutes rushed to celebrate a last-gasp winner.
It was a well-earned victory, with Tigers matching Duffield’s physicality while showing greater composure, desire, and professionalism to control large parts of the game.
There were several standout performances, but Williams deservedly took home Man of the Match for his tireless running, strength in the tackle, and creativity throughout.
A fitting end to the 25/26 season - full of character, quality, and togetherness.
Over and out!
